Tab Mix Plus

I'm not sure whether this is an FF or a TabMix Plus setting (or neither) so I'm posting in both forums.

I'm currently using FF's Groups feature. If FF is open, say with some tab in group XYZ active and I open a link externally, then that opens a new tab in the present group. That's OK. (Although it's almost certainly an entirely inappropriate group unless I'd set up an appropriate one before opening the link. Surely it would be more logical to open it in a new group?)

But if FF is not running before the external link is opened, then FF/TMP opens the last active group (same comment as above), places the new tab at the end of the group (OK), but activates the first tab in that group, not the new one (not OK).

With TMP disabled, FF always opens with the new tab active. So I think the problem is due to a TMP conflict (with FF Tab Groups) or a wrong setting I have made in TMP.

BTW, without TMP FF opens the external link in a new window. And also when I then open new links they do not create a new tab.

what do yo have under Events/Tab opening > Focus/...? Links should be checked.

Thanks makondo. I have all the boxes there checkmarked. Anyway, it looks like the behaviour has now corrected itself! External links are opening in whatever tabgroup is active, and the newly-opened tab itself is active.

Same problem has been back for a few weeks now. Just got around to posting about it. Studied Help but find it hard going. And there are so many potentially interacting settings. I get a headache when trying to consider all the permutations and combinations!

Here's a screenshot. I think FF was closed (but maybe it was minimised), and then an external link was executed (to show my local weather forecast). FF opened the last tabgroup and focused on the left hand tab, not the new one. I've added a few TMP settings, but happy to show others.

One possibly related question: What effect is it supposed to have if, under the Links tab, I enable 'Use separate preference for links from other applications'.? I tried it but don't see any change so far. Doesn't solve the present issue anyway.

I already have the external link opening a new tab - it just isn't getting focus.

I wonder how many TMP users truly understand all the setting options? I find them over complex.
