Tab Mix Plus

Guys, I have TMP on Firefox 13.0.1 and when I try to customize the toolbar, it won't let me move any of the icons to it.

I had this problem the other day (on another installation) but later on, it worked.

Am I supposed to do anything to get it to work? Before, all I've done is to drag and drop the icons.

Are you moving TMP buttons? Which buttons? What TMP version? I don't know what it has to do with TMP but read troubleshooting tips linked in my signature and this:

TMP version shows in the Addons manager:



I'm not sure what you're trying to say ^. Did you get it working? You can Right click on any toolbar and drag icons to any toolbar. If it doesn't work for you, you might have to do the standart diagnostic )link above) to find out which ext. is the culprit.

I am in the tab mix plus options in firefox and trying to CUSTOMIZE the toolbar where the address field is (toolbar/customize) and normally when I click on customize, I get a window with buttons that I can drag and drop but now, they won't drop. I can drag them but they won't stay there and I get the circle with a line through it indicating it won't work...

By the way, I can't find the add ons manager

As i said above, read the tips and try a clean profile/disabling other exts.

Thanks, I can find that but I can't find a list of MY add ons, sorry and yes, the menu bar was hiding but not any longer

If you click that menu item, you should see this:



If you don't see this, what do you see when you click that menu item?

Also, are you using a theme other than the Fx default? Can you drop any icons on the bottom ('status') bar?

Well, I dont' know what I did but it works now.
TRied to move icons to the status bar and it worked and thought I'd try to the menu bar
and that worked too so now all is well.

Spent all weekend messing with this. Went to bed, all was fine. This morning, not fine.

I am using FF 13.01, latest TMP version, windows 7.

My fix for the drag and drop icons. Only can do it if I use TMP customize, and at the very bottom, must have checked USE SMALL ICONS.

I am NOT a techie, so kindly be patient! I have spent hours and hours getting to work for me!

My problem: I think the multirow feature is the problem. I have 4 as the rows to display, the default. If I click a tab there, the tab will open and also appear on the very top of the bookmark toolbar that has my folders and other tabs. It removes all the previous icons I had appearing there, as well as removing the bookmark from the list. Also, cannot sort the tabs, only able to drag them i the list.

"Only show only a list" I think has something to do with it. ???? Events tab.

Works perfectly if I use the FF icon that is on the navigation bar. Can sort by alphabet as well.

Not sure if related: I am using single window option.

Are you using the default Fx theme? Any personas? any styles/css in Stylish/userChrom.css? Tried a clean profile? Hiding the menubar? Using the tabs on top option? (Rclick a toolbar see if it's checked).

I'd suggest to disable top half of your exts. and see if you still have the problem. If so, enable them/restart and disable the other half. Narrow it down to the conflicting ext.

Hello Mikondo:

Have tabs on top. Otherwise, the FF icon does not appear on the navigation bar. (An old icon from a vertical toolbar shows, not the current FF one that is necessary.)

Closed the few extensions I use, did a restart, and saw no difference in problems. Had Price Blink, eMail This, Add to Search Bar. Default theme.

Made sure I had the right number of rows of tabs permitted, and closed tabs.

Big problem is lack of and X on a tab that appears on the bookmark toolbar. Only option is to delete it, and then it vanishes from the dropdown list on the right, but NOT on the FF list on the left. The on on the left is able to be sorted, but not the one on the right.

Played with bookmark name on or off, show in sidebar. I like the sidebar, but still like the rows of tabs and miss the old addon for bookmarks!.

Tab context menu : have checked off, close tab. Does not stick. Think that is a problem since I cannot close a tab on the bookmark toolbar, and am forced to delete the tab, not close it.

Only odd thing I have done: made all the tabs the same color, except the current tab. I do not have tons of tabs that would slow me down if I had to wait for them all to open.

In final desparation, I was getting so confused with new tab page, new tab, I just made i Google my home page and will deal with that at some other point.

Hope you can come up with some solutions. You are a tab wizard, so I am counting on you!

WOW! I thought it would take more than that to confuse me ...
First: what tab do you have on the bookmarks toolbar? Do you mean you place the bkmrks toolbar on your tabbar?

The icon for the FF bookmarks is on the navigation bar.

But on the menu bar, hit VIEW, and hit sidebar, it appears on the very left, in a vertical list. It will display the bookmark toolbar AND beneath that, a list of My Bookmarks.

Then if you hit Bookmarks on the menu bar, a drop down menu appears as it always has.

I think it is the multirow option that involves the overflow of tabs and it drops them into a vertical list on the very right side.

Other question I had, and maybe related: Events>Tab Features
Enable undo close tabs, yes.
Max number of tabs to remember...10 (default)
Restore to original position...I left that blank.

This is what I did not understand:
Make toolbar button display only a list.

Wonder if that is why none of the items have a close X in the corner.

Am I placing too much importance on the Bookmark icon located in the navig toolbar? The reason I think it is significant, when I was searching for bookmark addons, FF had listed those that were incompatible with diff FF versions. I thought the one from TMP was listed for the higher versions of FF, and that was the reason I was unable to hit customize and drag it up to the navigation toolbar. It was undraggable! Same issue that another poster had.

Just hit Bookmarks on menu bar. It only displays a drop down vertical list, nothing horozontal. I perfer the horozontal arrangement and now I don't know how I got it to display that way.

Getting late here. I will think about this all night!

Sorry Susan, i have no idea what you just said ^. You need to step away from your computer, take a couple of deep breaths and then try to explain one step and one problem at a time. For instance, forget the close button for now. Let's deal with bookmarks and tabs - which, i have to mention, have nothing to do with one another.

Now let's straight out this question:
Make toolbar button display only a list refers to the list of closed tabs. If this option is checked, clicking the Closed tabs button will drop a list of the tabs you closed. If this option is UNchecked - a Left click on the button will restore the closed tabs in the most recent order. So, if you closed tabs 1,2,3 and then click the button, tab #3 will be restore. Another click will restore tab #2, and another click will restore the tab #1. Right click on the button will drop the menu of all closed tabs.

Please, post your TMP settings as an attachment: Options/Settings (button in the bottom left corner) > Export. Save it to your desktop, for instance and then use the full editor here and find Upload attachment and Filename field at the bottom. Browse to your file/click Add the file and Submit button.
It might also help if you'd post a screenshot of your bkmrks/tabs problem.

Your post to me was fabulous. Had no idea about any of that! I followed the user manual, read it many times, and still was the clueless wonder. Might be a good idea to incorporate your explanation to me, in the event there is someone else who didn't get it.

I was confusing the term button with icon. I added the closed tab button to the navigation bar, and it is all clear to me now. Previously, got that info from History on the menu bar. The button adds a tremendous amount of functionality. That is why you are the Tab Master and I am your pupil!
