Tab Mix Plus

In a discussion I was having in the FF forum about the slowness I'm experiencing when starting FF from cold, one of the replies was as follows:

When using TMP Session Manager it disables the Load Tabs on Demand feature. So either use the built in Fx session manager or Try this its compatible with TMP and the startup option "don't load tabs until selected".

Is that true? I use FF's Tabgroups feature. I have a dozen groups and typically 15-20 tabs in total in them. But I've always assumed that provided I set that option in FF these tabs wouldn't be loaded automatically.
