i noticed one bug in the latest beta.
if i open a new tab and click a bookmark the page begins loading.
after that i immediately clicked my spambayes icon to review my spam messages in the browser but instead of opening a new tab the latest tab where the bookmark was loading was overwritten.
I think this will happen until the tab title is overwritten by the loaded page. As long as it keeps saying "loading..." it will be used for external links.

Needless to say that i set the option to load external links in new tabs.

illl look into it, the only time that external links is set to use current tabs is the tab is blank which means that its location is about:blank. perhaps during that loading time it hasnt gotten the location of the tab yet

In the short time i use TMP this bug has become very annoying, because i always have to wait until the loading process has changed the tab title. This can sometimes take a while on my dial-up connection. During this time i cannot open other external links. And i need this multiple times a day if i open links from usenet postings or news links from my RSS feeds.

I would prefer TMP to always open a new tab for external links like FF behaved before i installed TMP. If a have a blank tab i opened it myself for a purpose and don't want it to be used for external links.

If you still want TMP to use blank tabs, make it an option.

Another bug that i came across:
Sometimes the opening of external links takes ages. I click my spambayes icon and no spam review page is opened in FF. i click again because i think the double-click wasn't noticed. After a while, 15 seconds +, the review page is opened multiple times. I don't know why this happens and is not reproducable but i happens once a day.
I never noticed this behaviour before i used TMP. I did update my FF but i don't think FF is the cause.

Another minor bug:
I have the multi-row tab bar enabled with 3 rows and checked that tabs fit their content, the close tab button, no new tab button. There was one case where i had many tabs that filled more than 3 rows. I closed tabs after tab after i read them and then i suddentlyhad 4 rows, 3 filled rows and a 4th row with one tab. As i closed another tab the 4th row has gone. And IIRC, just before there were 4 rows there were only 2 rows visible. I think i scrolled through the rows and then the 4 rows showed up.
Just happened once and its a minor glitch.

CPU if tab has attribute "busy" the tab is still loading.....

so add it to the check if tab is blank
Code:
if (.....aTab.hasAttribute("busy"))

I would remove any check. Simply open a new tab and open the link there.

BTW, can i find the corrected version anywhere?

I'm seeing a different bug with TMP 0.2.4 beta: Although I have TMP checked to open links from other applications in a new tab in the current window, what actually happens sometimes is that the link is opened in a new Firefox window.

This behavior is inconsistent, in that sometimes links open in a new tab in the current window, other times in a new tab but in a new window. So far, I've not been able to discern which links behave incorrectly, so that I might be able to report a possible cause.

Later: I just clicked on a link in a Thunderbird email for a private message in MozillaZine. I watched what happened:

1. I was taken to my open copy of Firefox.
2. After a pause, a new copy ("window") opened, with the expected result of having clicked on the link in Thunderbird.
3. Out of curiosity, I returned to TB and clicked on the link a second time. In this instance, as far as I could see, the link opened a third FF window without first going to either of the two open ones.

this seems to be a firefox behavior since tmp just provides an option for it

Please do not take this as argumentative: This problem, as far as I can recall, only started when I removed the previous release version of TMP and installed the current beta release.

(After all, "as far as I can recall" is unlikely to be any great distance...).

Not sure which such entry you are asking about.

I do have Firefox, Tools, Options, Tabbed Browsing set for using a tab in the current window and, of course, TBP set for links to open in a new tab in the current window.

Ironically, when I clicked on the link in the email to which this is a response, the link opened in a new tab in the current window.

Just a few moments later:

Hah! Found the problem: If the first and only tab in Firefox is blank, then a link from another application, such as Thunderbird, will cause the link to open in a new window.

I was suspicious while writing the first part of this reply, because I had something in the first Firefox tab. So, after posting the reply, I closed both the tab in which my reply was posted as well as the first tab.

I then returned to TB, clicked on the link, and got a new window. I closed that new window, put something into the first tab in FF, clicked on the TB link once again, and this time the link opened in a new tab in the same window.

(On a nosy personal note: I recall your stating, perhaps on MozillZine, recently, that you are about to return to college. Might I inquire as to where you are enrolled? I teach college-prep kids, so I'm always interested in such matters.)

No, just tmp.

High school? Gosh, you are so young; how sad.... (I happen to like teenagers, but I'd never admit that publicly.)

Yes, that you are knowledgeable is rather evident.

As for fixing the problem, thanks.

And, as for your being young, well, given that I'm a teacher of teens, I can only deliver lecture number xyz100a.5.3.q, and that is to do well in school this year.

Darn, now I'm going to have to find something else to complain about.

(Oh, incidentally, that fixed the problem. Thanks.)

I was seeing that too with 0.2.4 from UMO. When a blank tab had the focus (or call it "was the current tab"), TMP would open links from external apps in a new window. I can confirm that the beta build from August 27th fixes that. Now the blank tab is correctly reused for the external link.

Thanks for the fix!
