So, I'm at website A, and I see a link that I want to read after I finish my current article, which I click, and it opens a new Tab, because that's how the website coded that link. But I'm still reading the original article, and after a little bit I see another link that I want to read later, but when I click it, instead of opening a new Tab, it reuses the same Tab that it had previously opened for the other article.

I looked through the forums, and I don't see any currently existing ways to prevent this from happening, and I've grown tired of trying to convince Google that I don't want to recycle tabs from pop cans, so I'm posting here to request that you add an option to prevent websites from reusing Tabs that they had previously opened on a new Tab command.

EDIT: It should open a second new Tab instead of reusing the previous new Tab.

Post a link where this happens. This is not 'normal' behavior if you have TMP set to open links in new tabs.

I assume you mean the highlighted option in the accompanying screenshot (if I'm mistaken, please let me know if one of the other sections visible here is in error, or if I can look somewhere else for my mistake).

I should probably specify that this is NOT when you right-click and select open in New Tab, but when the code for the page specifies it should open in a new Tab.

As for an example, I believe it will do this with any of the links in the text of the article http://www.cracked.com/article_20370_6- ... rican.html , but I specifically tested it with the first two links (Wikipedia attribution under Betty Ross picture, and in statement that Ross "never actually made a flag"). To test this, normal-click on one of the links, which will open up a new Tab; then normal-click on the other link, which will open up the link in the tab that just opened for the other link.

I tried many links on that site and they all opened in a new tab for me.
Set Force to open > All links.

Oops, I spoke too soon. That makes every link open in a new Tab, even links that should stay in the original Tab (such as the link to the Next Page at the bottom).

Yes, that's what the option says. If you want to open links in new tabs selectively, you will have to use Rclick/Open link in new tab. Or use the option but check Context menu 'Open link in this tab' and use that.

Well, I don't want to use that option - it makes reading articles and using Google confusing. When you tested the page I posted earlier, did you have that option enabled? The links are actually coded in the webpage to open in a new Tab, the problem is that it's also coded to keep opening in the same new Tab, and that's the behavior that is bothering me here.

you can also use middle-click or Ctrl+click to open links in new tab

Yeah, I guess it looks like I'll have to go back to doing that.... Cracked.com used to open links in new Tabs/Windows on a normal click, which was much more convenient (though unfortunately not entirely consistent), but just recently they started this nonsense with recycling the previous tabs/windows. I think it has to do with using named frames, as in <a target="FrameName" .....>

Or I could use this as an excuse to figure out GreaseMonkey.
