Thanks to achillles for writing v1.0 of this manual.
Thanks to CPU and Onemen for helping me to make v2.0 possible.
Thanks to fang5566 for the Chinese translation.

ORIGINAL POST....

I am updating the PDF manual and would like to know whom to send it to when the final version is completed.

To be honest, I would really like to create a new manual in Word using this one as a reference. Then users can download whichever format they want: .doc or .pdf. It would have fresh new screenshots, new options (if there are any since this manual was made), and a contributors page. Also, there are some things in TMP that that manual did not cover. Lastly, I'd like to put a logo on the title page.

Questions

1. Please tell me on which version of Tab Mix Plus that manual is based (screenshots, options, etc.).

2. From the note on the web site, Gary Reyes [CPU] wrote the manual and achilles contributed. Is that correct? Any other contributors that should be named? (I will add myself to the list.)

3. Would the image that's at AMO be the best one to use for the title page? (I do not want to use the image on the TMP home page because it has the word "b*tching" in it.)

Image

This image could still be used as well.

Thanks. I edited the post, so you may not have read the latest version of it, lol. See the questions above. It is going to be fun working on this manual!

i think it is best to do it in to it in html. you can send the pdf/doc file and i can edit it to be more integrated into the site.

the manual is based on version 0.3.x, an updated one is needed for the upcoming version

its is okay to add yourself to the list and also use a new image

Great. For the screenshots, is there any preference?

- Windows Classic
- Windows XP Blue
- Windows XP Silver

It may even be possible to integrate some of the FAQs into the manual. I saved them all to a Word document, and I can send you that if you need it to rebuild the FAQ database.

Work will begin on this manual July 7. (There is another project I'm committed to finishing by July 6.)

New builds keep coming out, so I have put this on hold until the final release of the new TMP build. Then I don't have to keep taking new screenshots and changing default options.

The manual is not finished, but I will start on the project again since so many of you are waiting for it. It is based on TMP 0.3.5 and the previous manual written by achilles. Screenshots need updating.

My Firefox theme is Mostly Crystal.

Since CPU prefers blue, the XP Default Blue theme will be used for the screenshots.

I’m pleased to hear that you are in the progress of making the help.
I think Xp and FF2.0 default theme are just enough.Besides, when I'm ready to make a Chinese help file.I may substitute the image to what I'm just using.

Don't forget to send the original .doc file as well as the .pdf file to me(wlq105556@gmail.com) after you have finished.

Wish you success earlier!

fang5566, my draft will first be sent to CPU and oneman for final approval. If any changes need to be made, then they will let me know, and I will send it back to them for re-approval. After that, both the doc/pdf versions can be sent to you, as well as be published for download.

The manual is about halfway done. It is being created in Word 2003 and Acrobat 7 Pro. I am asking questions in the Problems & Questions area of this forum to clarify some things, just to be sure that everything in the manual is true and accurate.

Hopefully, I can finish it within a few days, but my disabilities have taken their toll this week, and I haven't been able to work on it as much as I would have liked (too much time stuck in bed). My health comes first. Manual comes second. I have even put my duties as Global Moderator at The Extensions Mirror (TEM) on hold until this manual is completed. Luckily, the admin there is very understanding. He believes as I do that this manual is a worthwhile project, so he has given me the time off. I want to finish it as quickly as possible but do not want to rush. Be patient. It'll be done soon.

I can tell you that there are a few places where all the options do not fit on one page, so I have had to split them across two pages. (9pt font is the smallest I want to use for those feature charts.) Some new sections have been added (or will be added) since the previous manual written by achilles. Here is the basic outline.
  • Introduction
  • Protected, Locked, and Frozen Tabs
  • Installation
  • Settings (Restore Defaults, Import Settings, Export Settings)
  • Options (This is the main part of the manual with all the features and charts.)
  • Upgrades
  • Uninstallation

If there is anything else that should be included, please offer your suggestions here.

Seamaiden,
i, for one, am very impressed by you taking on such a huge project - much needed for a long time now. Thank you very much - i think i'm speaking for many, many TMP users (according to posts i read).
One Q about the above list - is it in the order it will be present in the final version? If it is, i think the second line (Protected,...) should come after Settings. And Installation may be better combined with Uninstallation and Upgrading. This will eliminate 'flipping pages', in my opinion. If it's not the final order, please disregard this.
I hope you'll feel better soon (regardless of TMP), Good Luck!

The order is somewhat flexible. Thanks for your ideas.
  • Introduction
  • Installing, Uninstalling, and Upgrades
  • Settings (Restore Defaults, Import Settings, Export Settings)
  • Protected, Locked, and Frozen Tabs
  • Options (This is the main part of the manual with all the features and charts.)

Any other suggestions? Things you'd like to see included or explained?

Hi,Seamaiden!
Thank you for devoting to this huge project and sharing your feelings with us.Take it easy and never rush. After all health is always the first.

Your outline is beyond my imagination, because what I expect is just the options as the original one writes. Thanks for add so many things to make the help perfecter.

A question is why let "Protected, Locked, and Frozen Tabs" a seperate part.It had been included in the option dialogue.

Because so many people don't know the difference between them.

WHERE is it in the Options dialog? I do not see it explained there.

Anyway, I already finished working on that part.

Great, it's about halfway done.
If you add faq in it,it is very very perfect.I know that there are so many questions that can't be added,so you may dicuss with CPU and Onemen which of them are most frequenlty asked.Never mind if it is not added.

The online FAQ are always down and not available every time I go to check them.
