Thanks for the advice, but I've already done that, and it does not work. I've tried installing directly from this forum, I've tried downloading the .xpi and installing it that way.

No matter what about:config settings, etc., no matter what I try, the only thing I get is the message that, as the extension does not have safe updates, it will not be installed.

I've now managed to get a few extensions that might not be compatible to install and work through the various settings, but not TMP, alas.

[EDIT]I changed the maxver to 3.0*. Now, when I try to install TMP, Firefox says that it is installing the extension, but never does. No more "no safe updates" errors, but still no installed extension.

I also tried 3.0.0, 3.0+, and perhaps at least one other permutation, all to no avail.

When I ran the installer, it even created a new Program File folder, Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 1.

(On the other hand, I shall not comment on your incorrect use of such things as question marks and exclamation points...).

The fun was seeing you complaining about TMP while you're using a beta Fx version.
As for my 'incorrect use...' - it's intentional. It looks 'correct' to me - a substitute for smilies and lol's (plus [since english isn't my native language] i allow myself to use it any way i wish).
G'Day, John, lighten up!

I was not complaining, I was simply reporting what I found. I've also reported a few other extension problems to their authors: If those of us who find problems don't report them, then the authors won't be aware of what needs to be changed.

As for your incorrect use, well, as a teacher (among other things), I find the use of multiple marks objectionable. The worst recently was a thread that had fifteen question marks at the end!

As for English not being one's native language, there is an amazing percentage of native-born Americans, for example, for whom it would appear that not is English not their native language, but, rather, something to be totally mangled.

I would write that President Bush is among that group, but as he is no President....

[EDIT] I just noticed a MozillaZine thread that has THIRTY-TWO question marks, followed by a virgule, in the title. That is, to put it mildly, a sign of idiocy.

I did both, to no avail, directly from the link in this thread, each time getting the "no safe updates, so I'm not going to install this this extension for you" message."

[EDIT] I realized later that I'd not put extensions.checkUpdateSecurity into about:config.

Did so, restarted, installed TMP devbuild.

I wonder why this never worked with my first RC3 Beta1 profile--but I'm likely to be better off never knowing.

Try this and your extension installation in Minefield should work now.

After you make the about:config adjustment you have to close Minefield and open the Profile Folder.

There are 4 files that need to be deleted. They will be rebuilt on restarting Minefield. Depending on the extension some may become disabled so you will have to renable them again as I explained below.

extensions.cache
extensions.rdf
XUL.mfl
extensions.ini
----------------------
If you used Mr. Tech Local Install or his renamed Mr. Tech Toolkit you can then run the "Make All Compatible" from the Extension Manager Toolbar context menu.

Restart Minefield and all your extensions will be enabled again.

Thanks, I guess: I'm not using Minefield, and, as I said in my previous post, I have successfully installed TMP in Firefox RC3 Beta 1.

Here I will call it what it is. Fx 3.0b2pre or Minefield

In other words it is the latest tk build.

As for the instructions that is fine if you did not need them but someone else may find them useful.

PostPosted: Sat Nov 17, 2007 9:30 am
Starting with today's nightly build I'm seeing this in Console2:

Error: TMP_LastTab.TabBox._keyEventHandler is undefined
Source file: chrome://tabmixplus/content/flst/lasttab.js
Line: 223

It seems to trigger when FLST is enabled, and you close a tab. The function works, its just triggering the error.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111705 Minefield/3.0b2pre Firefox/3.0 ID:2007111705

since the tabs got a recent makeover, they are too short (vertically, the favicon is slight taller than the tab). is this cuz of the checkin or tmp?

The tabs seem fine to me, but I'm in Win (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111805 Minefield/3.0b2pre ID:2007111805)

Have you tested with TMP disabled?

i hadn't gotten around to that yet, but i have now. it is indeed TMP that causes it, with it disabled the tab height is correct.

i'm using the 070923 build of TMP btw, i forgot to mention that.

You might want to try Tab Mix Plus 0.3.6.0.071030 (dev) which is available in one of Gary's posted on the previous page.

I'm seeing this js error when using Ctrl-W to close a tab, using Ctrl-F12 to open a recently closed tab and while typing this post:

Error: TMP_LastTab.TabBox._keyEventHandler is undefined
Source file: chrome://tabmixplus/content/flst/lasttab.js
Line: 223

I'm using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111905 Minefield/3.0b2pre ID:2007111905
with Tab Mix Plus 0.3.6.0.071030

I'm going to try the the 070923 dev version and see if this persists.

EDITED TO ADD: It is so in 070923, too. So far, it does not appear to cause any other problems in Minefield.

The progress meter is 'stuck' on tabs, and the STOP button seems to be grayed out. Also keyboard commands for 'reload' Ctrl+R seem to be not working either.

No errors in the Console.

Hello. A lot of recent landings have broken TMP.

If I go to Tools -> Options I can't click the option buttons (top row) to go to other options panels. When I try I get this error:

Code:
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x804b000a [nsIDOMXULDocument.loadOverlay]"  nsresult: "0x804b000a (<unknown>)"  location: "JS frame :: chrome://tabmixplus/content/pref/preferencesOverlay.js :: showPane :: line 21"  data: no]

Also a lot of weirdness with tabs... sometimes the active tab is not always shown as active. or I'll get multiple active tabs, etc.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111921 Minefield/3.0b2pre

thanks for all of your had work, guys!

Another installation oddity:

I removed the 'pre-beta" version in which I had finally managed to install TMP, and installed the actual Beta1.

Even having set the security setting in about:config, as I was told here to do, TMP would still not install, claiming it did not provide safe updates.

However, this information from MozillaZine, when applied to TMP, allowed it to be installed:

"you cannot install add-ons with "http"-update url.
try to delete "update url" in install.rdf.
or comment-out it. "
