Hi everybody,

In Fx 3.1a1-pre ( Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1a1pre) Gecko/2008071903 Minefield/3.1a1pre ) with Win XP SP2, the effect of Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab has deeply changed. It now shows a popup with tab previews. And worst of all, it seems impossible to change tab switch behavior. I mean: switch between "switch to left/right tab in tab bar" vs "switch following last used order"; I was used until now to switch to left/right tab one by one... I did a quick check-up in the options and about:config, I haven't found anything interesting. So, I invoked TMP (latest dev build), unchecked "Ctrl+Tab navigates in the most recently used order" and "Ctrl+Tab displays a tab list popup menu" (in TMP Options -> Events -> Tab Features), Apply, OK, Restart Firefox, but nothing happened.

I don't think TMP is intended to work with Fx 3.1 alpha -or later- yet, but it would be great if the good ol' tab switching tab switching behavior could be set with TMP, and eventually disable Fx 3.1 integrated popup with tab previews. I am completely lost to know which the new active tab will be, and I hate mouse clicks on tabs as I do nearly everything with the keyboard ^^

Thank you all for this great addon ;)

In Minefield (Firefox 3.1a1pre), there has been a partial landing of a new browser feature that provides a preview of open tabs. The feature is based in part on the Ctrl-Tab extension that has been available for some time now. If I understand things correctly, TMP is not a part of this.

To read more about the new Ctrl-Tab behavior in Minefield start with this daily Trunk build thread and read forward. You will find various aspects of the new feature discussed in most of the threads since then.

Im using TMP 0.3.6.1.080416 and I noticed when opening a second tab, the tab bar grows by two pixels:

The left is with one tab, and the right is with two.

This only occurs when the All tabs button is removed. Sorry for not mentioning in the first post.

I use this code to make the tab bar the original size (and fix the problem of resizing):

Code:
.tabbrowser-tabs { height: 29px !important; }

Wrong. 3.0.1 is not 3.1

Whoopee. Forgive the minor typo.

Underlining the unimportance of the update, however, merely indicates how cumbersome updating TMP has become if such a minor release necessitates an upgrade and visit back here.

I noticed TMP stopped working with FF 3.0.1, so I edited the maxversion, and decided other people might like to use it... so here ya go!

Garrett,

the solutions have been posted numerous times w/in this (and many) other threads. There's no need to go to anybody's else site to install a working dev.build which is in onemen's signature. Bumping can be easily done if people will bother to read the last 10 or so pages of this same thread.
People should be cautious about installing things from e-net. Add-ons Mirror, developers sites and AMO are the safe way to keep out of trouble (and, in many cases, to get updates).

anonymous_user,

i think the issue is Fx (since Fx2) - it makes active tab larger. I use a similar code.
The second one - try reseting tabs width and resize the window and they should fit w/out additional space. That's what i see here - resize the window if i want 'em all to fit nicely (like, usually really don't care). I do use the extra space option too though.

Thanks Garrett. I don't understand why the autor doesn't release a
FF3-Version on the addo.ons page. And I don't understand why he does not
increase the maxver by himself.

It is NONESENSE... I'm REALLY MAD about that! TabMix is such a good
Add-On -> Still no official FF3.01 support. What the fuck?!

no need for the language. we are working on a version, you shall see. somethings just needed to be fixed. TMP is more complex than other extensions.

and we did increase the maxversion, if you would read the many already locked posts, it was. you just needed to reinstall it

Its nothing for you, but its something I verily easily notice and thus annoys me.

If I resize the window some I can minimize the space:

But if I resize too much, the space comes back:

I'm using Tab Mix Plus 0.3.6.1.080416 with External Application Buttons 0.7.3.4 mod edition (Download Page) on Firefox 3.0.1.

When I disabled Tab Mix Plus, I can drag an application onto the toolbar to create an external button. However, after I enabled the TMP, I won't be able to add or delete a button. Is it possible to make TMP compatible with External Application Buttons on Firefox 3? Thanks a lot

anonymous_user,

of course it does. It's all in the game of sizes, i guess. Personally, i like the extra space - gives plenty of room to drop things. But maybe it's possible to make tabs flex to fill the bar border to border. I do not know that.

Guess above ^

I don't know if dev. can/will make it compatible but in the mean time you may want to try Custom Buttons² ext. which works well with TMP. It has 3 buttons to choose from to do what you want to do, 2 are here and a link to another one is under the Discussion link in that post.
I use the Browse Folder button which opens system folders tree and i can browse to whatever it is i want to open. Just a personal pref.
