Using 0.3.7.3, Firefox crashed and, after restarting, I cancelled restoring the crashed session because I wanted to install some add-ons without having to wait for all the tabs to load. I figured the crashed session would be available to choose to restore the next time Firefox loaded. Not so. How can I get the crashed session back?

use your time machine to go back in time and save the crashed session from session manager menu before you restart Firefox again

You don't have to be such an ass about it, onemen. C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles\<profile>\sessionbackups\ contains various .rdf files but I could not restore them by renaming one to session.rdf and moving it to the profile directory. What is the point of these backups if they can't be restored? How do I restore them?

Again, why have session*.rdf files in the "sessionbackups" directory if they can't be renamed to "session.rdf" and moved into the root profile directory as a way to manually restore previous/crashed sessions if Session Manager can't seem to list these sessions automatically?

files in sessionbackups make one backup a day.

you don't find your crashed session there.

your crashed session is available during the session the you start after the crash, but if you close firefox again the crashed session is not save. if not going to restore the crashed session but you need it for future use you have to manually save it. from session manager menu right click on the crashed session and save it, or restore the crashed session and save it

Again (for the third time), "why have session*.rdf files in the "sessionbackups" directory if they can't be renamed to "session.rdf" and moved into the root profile directory as a way to manually restore previous/crashed sessions if Session Manager can't seem to list these sessions automatically?"

Answer the question this time, eh?

Eep²,
i think you've lost your sessions, sorry. So, try an ext. made specifically for that purpose - Session Manager. It is much more reliable, very well supported and works well with TMP.

Why didn't you use it then? Or, if you did use it and lost your sessions (this doesn't happen to me with SM), you should be asking in the SM thread i've linked above.

Again, see above for my original question which has yet to be answered. I tire of having to repeat myself...

^ ;-)

OK, glad you're finally tired repeating yourself. Just to let you know before i too drop this matter - we're tired of you too. You've been told a few times already - you have lost your sessions at this point:

In the future, if sessions are important to you, use SM ext. (notice, it's a different ext. all together and problems with that one should be posted in SM forum thread i've linked above).
Good Luck!

How to restore your sessions from a backup file

FOUND THE SOLUTIOOOOONNNNNNNNN YEEEEEEAHHHHH!!!

If your session manager and your tab mix plus sessions and information (as closed windows etc) is gone try this:

1 Go to your backup file located in:
C:\Documents and settings\user\program data\firefox\profiles\xxxxxxx
(in my case xxxx is aiz4pop.default
2 at the folder sessionbackup locate the latest file saved there by date
3 open it with a text editor.
4 go back to the previous folder and locate a file called session.rdf (this is your current session saved.
5 back up session.rdt and save it into another location as the desktop. (if this does not work you can always replace it to leave it as it was)
6 go back to the original session.rdf file and open it with a text editor.
7 Select all the text and delete it
8 Replace the text with the one at the latest session manager file opened previously.Copy and paste.
9 Save the changes
10 Launch or reboot firefox.

11 VOILA!!!!!

12 Go to your tab mix plus or your session manager toolbar and you will find all the sessions and all the info on both programs back!
At least it did work fine to me....

I am not a geek, just a simple girl using common sense and tired of looking for a solution at the net about this.
I hope this helps others to solve this weird thing.

This has worked for me but my backup file was not corrupted.
