Tab Mix Plus (0.3.8.2 and 0.3.8.2pre.091012) breaks the last tab in the Firefox 3.6 beta:

Notice how the right edge of the tab is chopped off on the end.

This didn't happen with 3.5.x and whatever TMP version i was using there, and it doesn't happen when TMP is disabled.

Any ideas?

Have you tried disabling all extensions other than TMP as well as using the default theme?

Hi, I am using Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 and TMP Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.2.

The default tab opening behaviour in Beta 1 is:
[a][3][2][1][b][c] but with new tabs opened from bookmarks, history, or external apps open at the end of the tab strip.

With TMP I can get the tab opening order as the default but new tabs opened from bookmarks, history, or external apps open to the right of the active tab, not at the end of the tabstrip.

Is there a way to get the default opening behaviour if B1 with TMP installed.

Attached are my TMP settings, I also have browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground=TRUE

Many thanks

@Harlequinn99,

Are you aware that the new default tab opening behavior is for links to open next to the focused tab and not the the far right of the tab bar? This puts Firefox on par with IE8 and Chrome.

Where you want to look under Events > Tab Opening. I am not sure what settings need to be changed to provide the actions you want. Time for T&A--Trial & Error! :P

Hi WildcatRay,

Yes I was aware of the new tab opening behaviour opening links next to the focused tab. It was implemented in bug 465673.

However as part of that patch new tabs opened from bookmarks, third-party applications and new blank tabs should still open at the end of the tabstrip, (Beltzner's comment 38 ).

I am trying to achieve this new default behaviour with TMP installed but can't quite match it. The closest I get is with:
extensions.tabmix.openTabNext=true - this makes new tabs open next to the focused tab
extensions.tabmix.openTabNextInverse=true - this makes each progressive tabs opened from tab A open to the right of the previous one, i.e. A123B

These TMP preferences duplicate the new opening behaviour, except the bit where new tabs opened from bookmarks, third-party applications & new blank tabs should still open at the end of the tabstrip.

Usually TMP adds functionality but in this case I just want to leave the default new behaviour but unless I am missing something it doesn't appear to be possible.

Thanks

1. Yes, same behaviour.

2. The problem is not present in the default theme, but there are similar glitches with the new-tab button in another theme (Camifox).

I also tried resetting my TMP preferences to default, and changing the position of the new-tab button in TMP, but i got the same problem.

edit: Actually, TMP seems to cause an even bigger problem here: This theme uses a new-tab button which extends to fill the entire space after the last tab. In 3.5.x with a previous version of TMP, this worked perfectly. With 3.6 and the new TMP, suddenly the 'extend to fill' feature of the button no longer works, whether i have 'after last tab' or 'on right side' enabled in TMP. The feature only works when i have one and only one tab open; if i have two or more tabs open, i have to click exactly on the button at the very edge of the window.

Hi.

just wanted to advise in FF 3.5.4 running on Ubuntu - it breaks the COMPACT MENU 2 and XMARKS addons.

The thing is for both of them the additional buttons dissappear from the "Customize" menu, disallowing COMPACT MENU 2 to run and put their menu icon on the navigation bar.

There has been issues with Xmarks in the past where the updating of it seems to take several restarts of the browser before it completed and the Xmarks update success page would final open. The symptoms were that other extensions' buttons would not appear on the toolbar if placed there nor in the Customize... dialog.

I suggest disable all extension but Xmarks and restarting the browser, then proceed to reenable all your other extensions.

Thanks, Ray, i linked your post to the troubleshooting sticky. I noticed that many people with display problems list Xmarks and was wondering about it (but not enough to install it Image).

Before Weave became more stable, Xmarks (nee Foxmarks) was my way of syncing bookmarks and passwords across my browsers and computers. Starting with version 3, when I installed an update, almost half the time, it took at least a couple of restarts, if not disabling all other extensions first, before the update completed successfully. I and others reported this to the Xmarks folks, but I never heard of any resolution. I suspect they were not able to reproduce it themselves and thus had no way to then troubleshoot the issue.

With Weave 1.0 fast approaching--they have announced they will have 1.0 beta soon--Xmarks may not be needed by many of us. As it is, I only have it on my Fx 3.5 and not my Namoroka or Minefield profiles.

Thanks for response. However Xmarks are running fine along TMP. The icons are there in the "customize" section, all syncing fine.

Problems start when COMPACT MENU 2 is running along TMP. No problems with XMARKS and COMPACT MENU 2 running along without TMP, but as soon as TMP and CM 2 are enabled together - CM2 breaks and messes up icons for other extensions. Disabling either one of them (CM2 or TMP) gets it working again.
