Any News on a new build that fixes the bug of opening pages next to the current one that was introduced 2 builds ago ?

What settings do you have under Events > Tab Opening?

Doesn't matter what they are on if you MIDDLE click a link it will open at the END of the tabs you have already opened. A few of us have pointed it out and the last version to work properly, IE- open the tabs next to the CURRENT one and not the last opened tab is tab_mix_plus-0.3.8.3pre.100125
These are the settings Image

Have you tried checking Only if related to current tab? Does this then get you the action you want?

YEP tried ALL the options on that page, one after the other and none of them make the tabs open next to the current one, they always open next to the last tab opened. Quite a few people have the same problem a few pages back in this thread.

With tab_mix_plus-0.3.8.3pre.100125 and before if you went to a page, lets say Google, then Middle button on images it would open the images tab, if you then clicked on videos it would open the tab BEFORE the images tab. It would open next to the CURRENT tab but before the images tab. Now if you do the same it will ALWAYS open the tabs to the right of the last tab opened, not next to the CURRENT tab as the preference describes.

I'm on Windose at the moment. Things are working as expected on it for me. I'll have to look at things on Ubuntu when switch over later today.

it's the SAME for windows.
onemen said that he "removed the preference change opening order and set it to always true"
and "i will consider to bring back change opening order preference"

on page 27 of this thread, So it's known about and confirmed. I was just interested if anybody had any new on an update.

This is certainly strange. Tab opening using middle-click always opens the tab next to the current for me.

I have tested in Windose and Linux using the current dev build of TMP in Fx 3.6 and using the personally-modified build in Minefield.

Events > Tab Opening Settings:

Checked:
Open other tabs next to current one
Only if related to current one
Open duplicate tabs next to current one

Unchecked:
Open new tabs next to current one

To clarify: if you middle click two links, is the resulting order of tabs 123, or 132? I have this error with the latest build, and I get 123, whereas the expected result would be 132.

Faffe is totally CORRECT, that's also acknowledged by the author
At quick glance it seems to work correctly if you ONLY open 1 link, butif you open 2 or more links then then the order is wrong as Faffe stated.

Fx, by default used to do this:

ABC

Open 3 links from within A:

ABC123

Now the Fx default is this:

A123 BC

Before the Fx default changed, TMP had options to enable this. (I have used this setup since late 2008.) Also, I believe IE8 and Chrome do it this way, too.

What Faffe and Stevvie want is this?

A321 BC

Personally, that seems so illogical. For example, I do a search. As I look down the results, it is most likely that I wish to open in a new tab the first, then the second and finally the third listed result. If I have it:

A123

I need only move 1 tab to see the first result. When I am done with that tab, I close it and the second result tab opens and so on.

If it is this:

A321

to switch to the first result I have to move 3 tabs to the right. That seems so illogical, but if that is what you are comfortable with...

FYI-Opera does it that way (A321).

What IE8 and Chromes does, but Mozilla refuses to do at this time is this:

A 123BC
A1 23BC
A2 3BC
A3 BC
A BC

(Space follows active/open tab.)

That is to return to the original parent tab, A, once the last of the child tabs, 1, 2 & 3, has closed.

Mozilla currently does this:

AB C

we do this so you can see the first result then close the tab and you are automatically on the second result and close the tab your automatically on the 3 result and so on. If I go to http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/ and open the pictures I can view them in the order they are on the site, closing the tab then puts you automatically onto the next one in the correct order they should be, and when you close the last photo you are then on the parent page that opened them.

Opera (which also seems to open more pages without errors or rendering problems than firefox since 10.5) and Maxthon and Netcaptor (almost the original tabbed browser) acts the way we are wanting. As the preference states"open tab next to CURRENT one" and not "the last opened tab"

Stevvie,

And, that is what happens now in Fx:

A 123BC (A is active)
A1 23BC (1 is active)
A2 3BC (2 is active)
A3 BC (3 is active)

Only with the above, the user does not have to switch to the tab at the far right to start things off. They only have to go to the tab immediately to the right of/next to the active tab.

Also in my previous post I was trying to point out that what you and Faffe are asking for is out of the norm except for Opera. Don't take this as NOT wanting onemen to not offer such an option, but more a caution that if he has limited time, he should consider working on this as a lower priority that, say, offering Fx parity with IE & Chrome by mimicking the parent/child tab relationship--return to parent tab once all child tabs have been closed--since Mozilla is currently refusing to offer this

NOPE
look at how opera, Maxthon and netcaptor do things, this is NOT how the newer builds of TMP does things, the OLDER builds . The AUTHOR himeself said he MAY put the option back in.

Say you already have open the tabs abC and you are on tab C and open 3 new tabs 1 2 3 the open 1 2 3 where they USED to open (with the option change oppening order UNTICKED) abC321 but now they open abC123. All we want is that option back.

Image

All we want is that option back, or some bright spake to find the setting so we can edit it as it may have been just removed from the interface to make way for the new stuff thats in it's place.

"Other tabs" are in italics even when the option is not selected. Toggling the option makes no difference
