Can you or onemen summarise the curent status please, either here or in that other thread, as I'm now rather confused. In particular I don't get any fix by changing Google Preferences:

this ^ works for me and i am keeping it! I can't test anything else but search and my public gmail accnt. and it seems to work very well so far. Sorry i can't test more but there so many people that do use goog, i don't think it will be long till you hear from them if something is wrong.

sorry if i mislead you. I simply repeat there what some people (used to) say - change your settings under a link in the upper right corner to open links in new tab. I personally don't use goog enough to know better as i sign in only to check my public give-away gmail accnt. once a week or so.

At first test, it appears that links from Google results now open properly in a new tab with "instant" turned on.

Oops! Found a problem.

In the past, when I "unlocked" the tab (and red "locked" icon disappeared), links would then open in the same tab. That no longer happens. Links are always opening in another tab, even if I unlock the tab. This happens on several web pages I have looked at that always worked right before.

Starting with version 100918a i was added new pref there are 2 separate preference to
one to control only how link open - extensions.tabmix.opentabforLinks
0 - default, 1 - all link in new tab , 2 - links to other site in new tab
the 2nd control is general lock tabs control - extensions.tabmix.lockallTabs
true - new tabs are lock.

if you unlock a tab but stile using the 1st pref set to open all links in tabs then all links will open in tabs.

just change extensions.tabmix.opentabforLinks to 0, or use Tabmix Options > links to set Force to open tab... to Nuthing

Thanks, I think I got that.

I also notice that the context menu "Open in this tab" seems always to open in a new tab. At least ctrl+click is now opening in the same tab, which didn't use to work for me.

I would have thought that the context menu to open in the same tab would be definitive about using the current tab.

For example, at cnn.com, right click on an article, select "open in this tab" and a new tab is opened.

"Open in this tab" should open in the current tab.
i will fix that
