With the release of FF7, I've noticed a big difference in long term memory usage between FF7 + TMP and FF7 without TMP.
Would it be possible to have one release dedicated to reducing memory leaks and usage?
After a day of heavy browsing:
- Throughout the session, approximately 25 windows + 150 tabs (not all at the same time, but a rough estimate of the total number of windows/tabs opened and closed throughout the day)
- By the end of the session, I had closed it with 7 Windows + a total of 41 tabs.
At the end with 7 windows and 41 tabs (medium sized pages, not media heavy), Firefox was using 1.2gb of memory with another 1gb of page memory.
While closing tabs/windows after use, the memory usage did not drop much even when closing a window with many image/content heavy pages.
I believe it may have something to do with the way TMP stores the "closed windows" and "closed tabs" or the session manager.
I currently use it on the toolbar and via clicking of the tab bar (ctrl+click).
Plugin development is fairly foreign to me, but I've tried to find something that may help you in your cause.
