I can't get the close tab on button on pointed option to stick. I get it working but then when I reboot FF it shows the X on all tabs. In the preferences, it still has On Pointed checked, but that's not what it shows. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It's hard to tell which ext. is conflicting. Try disabling one half first to see if the problem disappears. If so, narrow down till you figure which one it is. Also, are you using the default Fx theme?
This has helped me once: reset the option to something else, restart and set it to Pointed again. In my case, i was testing another tabbing ext. which got stuck when was actually removed. This little trick worked for me then.

Yes, the default theme. I meant to mention that but forgot. :) I can get it working again by selecting something else and then setting it back but it still reverts to all tabs when I restart FF. I'll try disabling the other extensions, but none of them are really tab related.

I disabled all my extensions except TMP, set the close tab on point until I got it to show correctly, then restarted FF. It shows X on all tabs again. I don't think it is an extension conflict.

Well, it works fine for me so it has to be something specific to your setup. Try a clean profile (Please read the troubleshooting tips linked in my signature)

Are you running Linux? I read your tips earlier but the link for creating a new profile was for windows only. I found Linux instructions at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manag ... ew_profile but they didn't work for me so I don't know how to create a new profile.

You have to do it with Fx closed.
I think there was another thread about close button on Linux. Will need to search the forum.

Yes, I did have FF closed but it still didn't work. I saw an old thread where someone was having the same problem but it was from 2009 I think, and was only resolved with a new edition of TMP.

Hmm, that didn't work, either. :( It wouldn't be so bothersome if this version of FF didn't have such huge ugly Xs for the close tab function.

Yes, I did, thanks. I don't think that is my problem, though. It does save the setting, it just doesn't continue to apply it. I'm not having trouble with any other settings that I've changed and not getting the Firefox Updated tab, either.

It's actually Mandriva 2010.2 and you can download it from ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Lin ... icial/iso/
Be sure not to get the 2011 version. That one sucks.
