I am running TMP 0.4.0.3, FF 14.01, and Vista 32-bit.

I have habit of having lots of tabs open on FF while I'm browsing (40+), which usually uses about 600-700kB RAM. But for quite a while now, when restoring a large session with TMP, Firefox will get stuck (not responding), with CPU usage at 50% (I have a dual-core) and memory usage more than double what it normally takes to actually have those tabs open (1.3MB+). I can understand that happening initially with so many tabs to restore, but usually if the high CPU and memory usage occur, FF will never restore properly, even after waiting several minutes. When a restore is successful, it takes less than a minute to finish loading all tabs. This seems to happen most often when restoring from a crash, even if it's a self-induced one (kill the process in Task Manager).

After losing yet another session to this and having to dredge through history trying to remember what was open, I've decided to ask if anyone has any ideas where to even start looking for the culprit, since this doesn't happen consistently, and I don't see any obvious patterns based on what tabs I am trying to restore.

On a side note, is there any way to make TMP's session restore (including for crashed sessions) not load a tab until clicked like the current FF's own session restore? (in hopes that this will curb the runaway CPU and RAM usage that hangs FF on restore)

onemen is working on TMP session manager improvement but in the mean time, you might want to try Session Manager ext., works well with TMP and your sessions will be converted to SM.

Oh wow, thank you so much for referring me to that. I've only just started using Session Manager, but it looks excellent! It already integrates the restore on demand I asked about, and I especially like that you can choose which tabs/windows to restore after a crash. Thanks!

Glad you like it. I've been using both for years with no problems. Both developers work well together.
You're welcome, Good Luck!
