When I uninstalled and tried reinstalling with "tab_mix_plus-0.3.6.1.080416.xpi" I also received the "not compatible" message and found this file, dated July 16, 2008, a day older than the latest build, the dev build without a specific version in the filename dated July 17, 2008; using the latest dev build TMP installed without issue.

As linked-to in the original post of this thread, use this specific link instead of the "dev-builds" directory:
http://tmp.garyr.net/tab_mix_plus-dev-build.xpi

This worked fine for me. Installed new Firefox, it said that the TMP addon wasn't compatible (we knew that) and that it had problems finding an update for it (it's not in their addons catalogue that's why). Once Firefox was started, clicked on the link above. It downloaded, installed and then we rebooted. Lo and behold we are back to the way we were before the upgrade.

Somebody did mention that FF 3.01 seems to screw up TMP config. We didn't see that (or haven't yet) as everything seems to be working as it did beforehand. Time will tell though.

To the devs thanks again for a fantastic plugin. As somebody has already said, most of us appreciate what you are doing so ignore the small percentage of vocal whiners.

Doesn´t work! I treid it with the dev-build, but FF said "no valid installationpackage"! Why that?

Worked fine for me as well, no problems with the config.
Thx!

I think this add-on will lose a lot of following simply because it is getting harder and harder to get simple updates. When you ask people to keep jumping over hoops to keep it up to date most people will ignore that and look for a substitute, no matter how good the add-on may be.

just a word of advice...

As long as I can get the xpi I will continue to use TMP because it's one of the best add ons for FF. I think others would agree.

Its an absolute "must have" for me and I go ballistic when a FF update disables it. Sorry for not reading the entire 58 page thread, but why does the FF add-on page not even list TMP any more?

Not sure if that has been addressed but there are too many pages to go through... TMP kinda uglifies the close tab buttons. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks for the info. I got it working again!! I have to agree that Tab Mix Plus is a MUST have add-on. It is simply cannot be replaced by other add-ons currently available.

I updated to 3.0.1 yesterday evening, and was displeased when TMP didn't work, but I didn't fret, I knew a solution had to be around the bend. Then my wife got on me because the tabs weren't working as expected..... anyhow.... that aside, i made the slight change suggested on the board, and it works fine now. Thanks a bunch, and keep up the great work Very Happy

Jumping over hoops? As noted MANY MANY TIMES, install MR Tech Toolkit (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/421), right-click on your disabled add-on, and select "Make compatible".

How hard is that? There are a number of really nice add-ons that haven't been bumped to 3.0* but that still work fine once they have been "made compatible".

FF 3.1is out now,and renders TMP inactive again....Bummer.

Sill there be updates posted eventually to the FF site so that it auto updates at some point, or is the only update method now through checking back here (tmp.garyr.net)?

It wasn't hard, but perhaps not effective... I find now that Firefox doesn't remember my tab positions when I "save and quit"---every session is a new one and session restore no longer seems to work

I'm using FF3 in Ubuntu. I have tried installing the TMP version that's supposed to work with FF3, but nothing happens when I click on Preferences in the Add-Ons box, and there's no TMP entry on the Tools menu.

This problem, thankfully, is resolved simply by rebooting.

I do hope that this add-on, which is one of my favorites, is eventually part of the normal FF database again, though. Apart from the overhead in checking back here there is always a certain fear in 'forcing" an extension to be compatible even when FF tells you it isn't. I've had corrupted profiles doing that before, and no end of aggravation...

Wrong. 3.0.1 is not 3.1

I should have mentioned that the problem I'm having (above) is in the 64-bit version of Ubuntu. It's not a problem in the 32-bit version on my other computer -- I can set Preferences there, and Tab Mix Plus Options does appear in the Tools menu pick.
