That's cool.

But why there's no info on the main page (or https://addons.mozilla.org ) and no links to proper version?

For me - no problem, I can edit XPI file and make TMP compatibile to FF 3.0.*

But many, many users can't.

we havent been paying much attention to the main page. we will focus on that later however.

there really isnt much we can do on the addons page than edit the description which we have by putting a link twice. if users ignore that then its not our problem.

for as long as the forum has been up, there has always been support here. i would hope more users would come here first should they ever have a problem instead of going to the addons page which i dont check.

This support forum is all well and good, but is there a reason TMP can't update via Firefox's "Find Updates" feature, rather than all of us having to come out to the forum? When I try, it simply reports that "An error occurred while trying to find updates."

For such a well-known, well-used, and well-loved extension, this seems an unfortunate oversight.

When I click on the link in the forum I get the following error message

Tab Mix Plus 0.3.6.1.080416 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0.1

What's up with that.

It might have worked for you but I tried it again and it won't install.

Yes, please do so. The guys at Mozilla.org have created this nice automated notification and installation system, it's a shame for TMP users to have to manually update TMP. I'm using Update Notifier plugin and i get notified about updates to any plugin except TMP. This means i'll search for a TMP update only if FF gets updated and TMP is disabled because it's not supported by the new FF version...

Why? Can't you bookmark the builds forum and check it every so often, like once a month or a couple of weeks or so? It's not like exts. update daily.

But first, install the latest dev.

Simply because if i did that for every little thing i use, i'd have to quit my job just to check things out all day. Smile

Anyway, jokes aside, computers are supposed to make our lives easier. You are proposing to remember to check for a new version manually instead of having an automatic notifier do that for me. For what reason? IMHO, for most people that would be "no thanks, i'll just use what i have". I've got enough things going around my head already, to remember to manually check for new versions of every little utility, plugin theme or whatever i use. TMP is essential for me so i'm forced to manually check for a new version only when a new version of FF is released and TMP gets disabled. That simply means that i may update TMP once every year. Meanwhile, if a new feature gets added to TMP, i won't even notice for several months. It's not that important but it's a pity, isn't it?

wand,

calm down, please. I did not suggest any of the hype you've posted above. You said you use UN. That means most of your exts. should get updated properly and there's no need to quit your job. AT THIS TIME, TMP is not one of those simply because the only version that works with Fx3* is the latest dev.version, which can not be updated through AMO and therefor UN will not detect an update. That's why the only way to update it is to come here and check if there's a newer version - no need to do that even weekly either. As soon as there's an official release, UN will pick it up from AMO and notify you. That simple.
